Ther Power of a Smile

As teachers, we all know that we affect the lives of the children we teach. This past year, I had a little boy in my class that joined the Imagine Tomorrow program mid year. He was very quiet early on and I wondered to myself if he was enjoying the class. After about a month I saw his mother while she was dropping him off at school. She said I have to tell you that every day my son wakes up and asks if it is computer day because he says “I can’t wait to see Ms. Vicky’s smile”. I was pleasantly surprised as he had been so quiet all along. Something as simple as a smile got through to this little boy. It just reinforced to me that you never know how our actions are going to affect the little ones we teach and how being positive and upbeat can even make a child’s day!
